Party Leader Alison Plevey has been on an exciting adventure in Europe and the UK. She’s seen incredible performances, attended Impulstanz, shared her practice and has been dreaming up exciting ideas for ADP’s future.
Here she is teaching at @the_work_room_dance in Glasgow. Sharing her voice and movement training as well as instantaneous group composition structures.

𝘚𝘱𝘪𝘥𝘦𝘳 𝘸𝘦𝘣𝘣𝘪𝘯𝘨, 𝘴𝘦𝘯𝘴𝘢𝘵𝘪𝘰𝘯, 𝘴𝘱𝘢𝘤𝘦, 𝘢𝘯𝘥 𝘸𝘦𝘪𝘨𝘩𝘵
Alice’s movement practice has been succinctly focused as well as broad and open, at different times during her career. Recently she has been exploring the threads that link this practice, from “the dancing” to “the dance”. This lab will share some of this slow burn research with the local community.
Alice Lee Holland is an Australian Director, Choreographer and dance animateur.
Unafraid to think from zero, Alice is an ambitious artist committed to carving new paths. Originally from Boorloo/Perth, she has worked nationally and internationally across contemporary dance and circus, with diverse communities of people, trained and untrained, young and old. In 2019 she relocated to Gurambilbarra/Townsville to work with Dancenorth Australia and in 2024 will move to Kamberri/Canberra to become the Artistic Director of QL2 Dance.
Immerse is an initiative of Australian Dance Party and QL2 Dance. Each lab enables an environment for professional dance artists to explore, test and discover, to connect and network, and to explore new ways of working/moving. The aim is to dig a little deeper into a process or approach, extending the creative curiosities and physical development of movers and makers in the ACT.

Come join us for Professional Class this Thursday with Party Artist Levente Szabo! Levi will be teaching an acrobatic infused contemporary class, finishing with a long dancey sequence. If a handstand doesn't scare you, you'll be just fine!

On Saturday we performed in the beautiful @souluti

On Saturday we performed in the beautiful @soulutionyoga Lakeside studio space for a special community gathering. SOULution were celebrating their Braddon studios 8th birthday and Lakesides 5th. It was also an opportunity to bring together the community after the crazy few years we've all had to catch up, get to know each other and celebrate!
Dancers Patricia Hayes Cavanagh and Gabriel Sinclair performed improvised solos and duets scored by Ashlee Bye around the ideas of gratitude and connection. We were honoured to be a part of the celebration and have the opportunity to thank Roz and Bonnie at @soulutionyoga and @atlas_physio for all that they have done for ADP. Since our beginnings they have been so supportive and generous of our work and to our artists training/recovery.
We love being a part of the SOULution community.

Did you know we run Professional Classes? Our clas

Did you know we run Professional Classes? Our classes explore contemporary technique, improvisation, site practice, body practices and other linking art forms including physical theatre and voice. They are delivered with a spirit of sharing and exchange, to experience a diversity of creative approaches and technical training. Each 90-minute class is open to the public. Please read the class descriptor to identify the correct level. Theatre, physical theatre, circus and other performing artists or movement practitioners are welcome!

Level: Mover (For those who are ready and willing to wiggle around. Maybe a bit of movement training, maybe a bit of yoga! Open to doing a technical class with a smile)

Last week Matt Shilcock visited us for an Immerse

Last week Matt Shilcock visited us for an Immerse Lab while he was in Canberra for Uncharted Territory. His lab was a wonderful insight into his practice; having to learn how to move safely for his body, his interest in Chinese Medicine and ancient magic. He guided our lab participants through a choreographic task starting with an affirmation that led onto drawing individual sigils, which then moved it into the body and the creation of duos and trios.
It was a fascinating lab. Thanks so much for teaching us Matt!

Today we opened up our Professional Class to some

Today we opened up our Professional Class to some very special guests. As a thank you to our big donors in our recent Plus1 campaign, we brought them into the studio to see some behind the scenes ADP action. This was followed by a relaxed morning tea to get to know each other a little more deeply.   The aim of our recent Plus1 campaign was to receive $25,000 in donations before the end of May to have it matched by Creative Partnerships Australia to put towards our OnSite programs. Thanks to these generous people in the room and many others we reached our target. Thank you!

Alchemia Exteriores is a profound journey of personal transformation through the art of dance, influenced by occidental alchemy. The system's organisational structure draws inspiration from the alchemical hierarchy of elements, providing a solid and intuitive foundation for my creative method.
Our exploration delves into the realm of sigils and the creation of abstract symbology that embodies and represents our intentions and desires. Inspired by the legendary Arcanum Experiment, which aimed to transmute lead into gold, our artistic process revolves around the creation of an abstract image that symbolizes an important personal statement. From there, we embark on a transformative journey, crafting a ritualistic and performative dance that brings forth the essence of that representation through movement. This dance becomes a manifestation of our innermost aspirations.
Through Alchemia Exteriores, we seek to unlock the transformative power of movement and symbolism, bridging the gap between the tangible and the ethereal. It is an invitation to explore the depths of our being, to unearth our hidden potentials, and to express our most profound truths through the language of dance. Join us on this transformative quest, as we transcend limitations and transcendence to forge a profound connection between body, mind, and spirit.
