Jacqui Simmonds has been teaching dance for over three decades. In the tertiary education sector she taught dance practice and theory, and developed and managed bachelor level programs in dance. She is the co-editor of Dancers and communities: A collection of writings about dance as a community art. Jacqui is currently Canberra Dance Theatre’s Artistic Director. She is co-artistic director of GOLD, and established the performance group REVEL. She is also a member of the ZEST Dance for Wellbeing team, teaching classes for seniors around Canberra and appreciating how dancing can make a significant difference to the quality of people’s lives. She is also a qualified Iyengar yoga teacher. Prior to returning to Canberra Jacqui thought her performing days were over, but enjoys performing with the various groups she works with. She feels very privileged to have been invited to perform with ADP for Lake March.
