Vote 1 Dance
Dance is the oldest and most intimate form of human communication: before we talked, we moved. The Party seeks to bring dance back into the everyday; to reignite ancient and vital functions that help us to connect to ourselves and each other. For this, we value and respect the traditional dancers of this land, the Ngunnawal people and draw inspiration from the integration of dance in Indigenous culture.
Dancing voice
Our performances communicate social, environmental and political issues. We are not afraid to provoke, celebrate, entertain and exhilarate. We want to move you.
Increased artist employment
We fuel the growth of professional dance and performing arts in Canberra and work towards sustainable careers for dance artists. Our internship program (in partnership with QL2 Dance) fosters career pathways and development for an emerging dance artist annually. We aim employ our core company artists part-time by 2025.
Collaboration
The Party collaborates with non arts partners, including businesses, venues, academia, government as well as other arts organizations, festivals and institutions. Through these intersections, we present contemporary thinking and bold ideas that connect to you. Art is not apart from life.
Audience engagement
The Party reaches diverse audiences in non-traditional and everyday spaces. Place and site is integral to our creative work and practice, embedding unique physical and spatial connections to our ideas and to you. We are committed to the accessibility of our work for all to experience.
