‘DIVEST’ (working title) is in collaboration with Lingua Franca Theatre (Bathurst) and Catapault Dance Choreographic Hub (Newcastle).
A new dance theatre work addressing local to global challenges of climate-change, informed by the backdrops of the Newcastle coal industry and the Australian Parliament. These two weeks allowed us to sit in what it feels like to be in between apathy and action in personal, cultural, and political contexts. We experimented with verbatim text and lived experience, systems mapping processes, contemporary dance, conversation, physical theatre and song.
After a week developing and workshopping in Newcastle – where up to 23 coals ships arrive in the port every day – the creative work began in Canberra with artists, community and secondees.
