Alice’s movement practice has been succinctly focused as well as broad and open, at different times during her career. Recently she has been exploring the threads that link this practice, from “the dancing” to “the dance”. This lab will share some of this slow burn research with the local community.
Alice Lee Holland is an Australian Director, Choreographer and dance animateur.
Unafraid to think from zero, Alice is an ambitious artist committed to carving new paths. Originally from Boorloo/Perth, she has worked nationally and internationally across contemporary dance and circus, with diverse communities of people, trained and untrained, young and old. In 2019 she relocated to Gurambilbarra/Townsville to work with Dancenorth Australia and in 2024 will move to Kamberri/Canberra to become the Artistic Director of QL2 Dance.
Immerse is an initiative of Australian Dance Party and QL2 Dance. Each lab enables an environment for professional dance artists to explore, test and discover, to connect and network, and to explore new ways of working/moving. The aim is to dig a little deeper into a process or approach, extending the creative curiosities and physical development of movers and makers in the ACT.

Alchemia Exteriores is a profound journey of personal transformation through the art of dance, influenced by occidental alchemy. The system's organisational structure draws inspiration from the alchemical hierarchy of elements, providing a solid and intuitive foundation for my creative method.
Our exploration delves into the realm of sigils and the creation of abstract symbology that embodies and represents our intentions and desires. Inspired by the legendary Arcanum Experiment, which aimed to transmute lead into gold, our artistic process revolves around the creation of an abstract image that symbolizes an important personal statement. From there, we embark on a transformative journey, crafting a ritualistic and performative dance that brings forth the essence of that representation through movement. This dance becomes a manifestation of our innermost aspirations.
Through Alchemia Exteriores, we seek to unlock the transformative power of movement and symbolism, bridging the gap between the tangible and the ethereal. It is an invitation to explore the depths of our being, to unearth our hidden potentials, and to express our most profound truths through the language of dance. Join us on this transformative quest, as we transcend limitations and transcendence to forge a profound connection between body, mind, and spirit.
